Dorothy Ann Robinson

March 20, 1936 — July 21, 2025

Homegoing Celebration for Mother Dorothy Ann Burns-Robinson, 89, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025. Service will be held at Washington Memorial Church of God in Christ, 211 North Knox Street, Dermott.

Dorothy was born on March 20, 1936 to the late John Burns, Sr. and Molly Brown-Burns in Montrose, Arkansas. On March 23, 1953, Dorothy Ann Burns married a handsome young man by the name of George Robinson. Her husband, of 60 years, preceded her in death

Dorothy was married with at least seven children before she came to know the realness of Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. That was all due to the Lord sending a family by the name of the Kilgores into her neighborhood. A simple invitation from the oldest daughter in that family, Jo Ann Kilgore, to her two oldest daughters, Mollie and Betty, was the beginning of it all. Dorothy became a member of Dermott #1 Church of God in Christ in the early 1970's. At that time the church was under the leadership of Elder Paul Easterling who was the Pastor. In later years Dermott #1 and Dermott #2, another church in the city, combined and that union became the Washington Memorial Church of God in Christ. Mother Dorothy Robinson served faithfully until her health failed.

Even though Dorothy did not work on a public job outside of the home, she had a tremendous job to do at home. While her husband worked to provide financial support for the family, Dorothy had the awesome task of keeping all the children in line. She believed what the Bible said, "If you spare the rod, you will spoil the child." But along with the discipline was a love that could not be surpassed. Dorothy was a woman of few words, but she spoke more loudly and clearly into the lives of people without the use of words.

Mother Dorothy Robinson transitioned from this earthly realm in her home the night of July 21, 2025. She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory 10 children. Two sons, George Robinson, Jr. of Austin, Texas and Jimmie Robinson of Dermott, Arkansas; Eight daughters, Mollie Mormon of Texarkana, Arkansas, Betty Kilpatrick of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jessie Gaston (Jerry) and Martha Johnson both of Camden, Arkansas, Darlene Plummer (Ronnie) of St. Louis, Missouri, Judy Robinson of Dermott, Arkansas, Sheril Robinson of Huntsville, Alabama and Pearlene Harris of Dermott, Arkansas; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren plus three bonus great-grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren; one brother, John Burns, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her Protecter and great-grand dog, Precious Perry. Dorothy was one of five siblings. She is preceded in death by three sisters, Lizzie Bowden, Scottie Kelly, and Sarah Augustine.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, at Washington Memorial Church of God in Christ, 211 North Knox Street, Dermott.
