Funeral service for Elbert Lee Bonner Sr., 62 of Dermott, Arkansas will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2026. Service will be held at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 1109 North School Street, Dermott; Rev. Michael Wolfe, Pastor and Officiating Minister.
First Dispatch: Chief Elbert Bonner responded to his earthly dispatch on February 11, 1964, "as a loan" to Mr. Eddie & Mrs. Viola Bonner in Montrose, AR. Elbert accepted Christ at an early age at Ash Street Missionary Baptist Church---being born again---under the leadership of Reverend R. A. Austin. He was known by his childhood friends and the community by the nickname "Preacher".He was a graduate of Dermott High School's class of 1983. Elbert was very outgoing, always having that 'flirtatious' smile. He became a member, and a deacon at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Dermott, AR. He quickly began to love law enforcement starting his career of service with the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He continued in law enforcement positions with the cities of McGehee, Gould, Holly Grove, Reed, Eudora, as Chief of Police at Arkansas City, and a dedicated and cherished Captain of the Dermott Fire Department. While Chief Bonner was performing his earthly duties, our Heavenly Father placed him on a leave of absence; and entrusted His earthly disciples of Arkansas Hospice Becoming Life Touch, while Elbert continued his stay in Heaven's Waiting Room.
Final Dispatch: September 6, 2026, at 11:35 a.m. The frequency was as follows:

Chief Bonner: "Go ahead my Heavenly Father."
Heavenly Father: "I need you 10-8, 10-19 to my 20 in Heaven my Child."
Chief Bonner: "Copy that, I am 10-8, 10-19 to your 20; 10-4 over and out my Heavenly Father...Amen
Elbert will forever be cherished by his children, siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
