JIMMY D. HAMPTON
July 16, 1953 -- March 29, 2026
Funeral service for Mr. Jimmy D. Hampton, 72 of Dermott, Arkansas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Firday, April 10, 2026. Service will be held at Calvery #1 Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 West Hazel Street, Dermott; Rev.Samuel Fells, Officiating Minister.
Jimmy was born on July 16, 1953 to Joe Hampton and Reola L Watkins in Rohwer, Arkansas. He attended schools at Wolfe Project and Desha High School in McGehee. Mr. Hampton married Shelia Johnson on August 8, 2008; they resided in Dermott, Arkansas. His church affiliation was with Calvery #! Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ralph Carbage, where he served as deacon.
Jimmy worked as a construction worker and also a farm laborer with the Don Adams Farms. His past-time was spent watching TV and fishing.
Mr. Hampton transitioned from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at his home in Dermott. He is survived by his spouse Shelia Johnson Hampton of Dermott, AR; eight children, Tiffany Block of Conway, AR, Jimmy Hampton of Eudora, AR, Christopher Smith (Tristan) of McGehee, AR, Tori Scales (Abdual) of Hockley, TX, Terrance Johnson of Houston, TX, Timothy Johnson of Houston, TX, and Terrance Collins of Eudora, AR, Tiffany Johnson of Houston, TX; thirteen grandchildren; twelve siblings, Effie Armstrong (Danny) of Little Rock, AR, Thelma Edmond of McGehee, AR, Brenda Watkins of McGehee, AR, Janet Leigh Skanes of Arlington, TX, Janice McClendon (Michael) of Arlington, TX, Johnny Lee Watkins of Joplin, MO, Lonnie Watkins (Shona) of Joplin, MO, Toni Garrett (Finnus) of Washington, DC, Jo Ann Hamel of St. Louis, MO, Leona Lucas (Craig) of St. Louis, MO, Larry Hampton (Edith) of St. Louis, MO, and Kimberly Hampton of St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Calvery #1 Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will take place at Davis Cemetery, Dermott. Services entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott
