OCTOBER 4, 1945 -- OCTOBER 31, 2024

Funeral service for Johnny Roy Avriett, 79, of Dermott, Arkansas will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 16, 2024. Service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, West Iowa Street, Dermott; Rev. Dorian Newhouse, Pastor; Rev. Cedric Jordan, Officiating Minister.

Johnny was born in Galion, Louisiana October 4, 1945 to late Isiah and Irene Woods Avriett. He attended school in the Portland School District, Portland, Arkansas. On June 25, 1965, he was united into holy matrimony to the late Ida Averiett. Four children were born to this union and they raised their first grandchild. He remained a loving husband until her death.

Johnny was employed as a Chemical Truck Driver for Green Point AG, McGehee, Arkansas. He served dutifully for 25 years, retiring in 2018.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, and uncle. He was affectionately called Daddy or Uncle Johnny by his family. Johnny grew up with six sisters and three brothers. He was a homebody, but he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he would be patiently waiting for one of his children, grandchildren or friends to stop by to visit while he watched his beloved western shows.

Mr. Avriett passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory six children, Lamar Powell (Kowana) of Conway, AR, Barbara Holmes (Alfred) of Portland, AR, Mary Avriett, Lillie Avriett (Lawrence), Edwin Drew of Little Rock, AR, Lorri Jordan (Lenon) of Dermott, AR; one sister, Gensie Hawkins of Houston, TX and one brother, James "JB" Avriett of Detroit, MI; 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by six siblings, Dorothy Avriett, Shirley Triplett, Rosemary Swanson, Flora Avriett, Isiah Avriett, Jr., Affer Daniel Avriett, Sr., Annie Beden, and Gladys Scott.

Burial will take place at Portland #2 Cemetery, Portland, AR. Services entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott, AR.
