Funeral services for Myles Burnett Jr, 83 of Dermott, Arkansas will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025. Service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 415 West Iowa Street, Dermott; Rev. Doran Newhouse, Pastor; Rev. Michael Wolfe, Officiating Minister.
Mr. Burnett was born December 6, 1941, Dermott. His parents were the late Myles Burnett, Sr. and Addie Robinson Burnett. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Doran Newhouse, Pastor.
Mr. Burnett attended Morris Booker Memorial College, Dermott; graduating with the class of 1966. He married Bernice Burnett on January 4, 1967 In Chicago.
He worked as truck driver, foster grandparent at Lakeside Elementary School, Lake Village, and he was also employed as a prison guard at Cummins Prison, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Burnett was a lover of movies, gospel music and his family. He had a special love for his great granddaughter, Kalani.
Mr. Burnett passed away on July 8, 2025 at St. Vincent Doctor's Hospital, Little Rock. He is survived by seven children, Nigia Burnett of Dermott, AR, Derneen Bonner of Dermott, AR, Myles Burnett III (Starra Cleary) of Dermott, AZ, Thomas Burnett of Dermott, AR, Michelle Washington (Gary) of Monticello, AR, Kimmyette Love of Monticello, AR, and Catrenna Burnett of McGehee, AR; one granddaughter, Jada Burnett of Dermott, AR; twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Bernice Burnett and two children, Casonja Burnett and Franklin Ward.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 5:30 to 6:30 at Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott.
Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Boydell, AR; services entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott.
