Funeral service for Rev. Tommie Lee Hudspeth, 93 of Dermott, Arkansas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025. Service will be held at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 415 West Iowa Street, Dermott; Rev. Doran Newhouse, Pastor; Rev. William Freeman, Jr. Officiating Minister.
Rev. Hudspeth was born on December 11, 1931 to Emmett and Louella Hudspeth in Baxter, Arkansas. He married Margie L. McCullough on April 12, 1952.
Rev. Hudspeth lived all his life in and around the Baxter/Dermott area. He graduated from Chicot County Training School in May of 1952. In 1959, he was called into the ministry and was ordained and licensed. Since his calling, he pastored Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Baxter; Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Pickens; Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Baxter, of which he was pastor, leading that congregation for 55 years. Rev. Hudspeth was a servant of God and in ministry for over 66 years. He also served as Treasurer of the Southeast Baptist Association and the Board of Morris Booker College. Rev Hudspeth was faithful to the gospel, God's calling, family, and friends. He enjoyed hunting, farming, singing, and reading.
He transitioned on Friday, July 11, 2025. He is survived by his spouse Margie L. Hudspeth of Dermott, AR; four daughters, Beatrice Harvest (Jesse) of McGehee, AR, Debora Hudspeth of Pine Bluff, AR, Ruthie Hudspeth of Sherwood, AR, and Sharon Connors of Warner Robins, GA; and one brother, Anthony Hudspeth (Phoebe) of Sherwood, AR. He has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Four children preceded him in death; Undra Hudspeth, Tommie Lee Hudspeth Jr., Louatrice Hudspeth West, and Elvin Hudspeth Sr.
Private visitation for family ONLY will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 3:30 to 4:30 at Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott. Viewing for the public will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church.
Burial will take place at Strickland Memorial Cemetery, McGehee, AR. Services entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott.
