VELMA LEE SMITH
November 12, 1937 -- April 30, 2026
Funeral Services for Velma Lee Smith, 88, of Wilmot, AR will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026. Service will be held at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 309 North Georgia Street, Crossett; Rev. Charles Akins, Pastor and Officiating Minister.
Velma was born on November 12, 1937 to Rufus and Annie Orange in Wilmot, Arkansas. She attended school in the Wilmot School District, completing the 11th grade at Slack-LaGrande High School in Wilmot.
During her adulthood, Mrs. Smith lived in Monroe, Louisiana for several years and later moved to Crossett, Arkansas, where she established residence. She became a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where she served until her health began to fail.
She worked and retired from Georgia Pacific as a Mill Worker. Velma loved shopping, growing flowers in her yard and decorating her home.
Mrs. Smith transitioned on April 30, 2026 at Woods at Monticello Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She is survived by five children, Barbara Smith of Riverdale, GA, Moses Wilson of Little Rock, AR, John Wilson of Crossett, AR, Ernest Smith of Crossett, AR, and LaChendara Grasper of Boloxi, MS; six grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Jessie Penn of Wilmot, AR, Frank Franklin (Irene) of Little Rock, AR, and Larry Butler (Saretha) of Wilmot, AR. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Smith.
Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026 at Dillard Funeral Home , 137 Front Street, Eudora.
Burial will take place at Interment West View Cemetery, Crossett. Services entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 137 Front Street, Eudora, Arkansas.
