School Street Dermott, AR Pastor Evans Officiating Jzelden Cecil (J.C.) Nelson was born March 17, 1927 to the late Charley and Effie Nelson of Dubach, LA. He departed his earthly presence on Tue. December 15, 2015. He came into Christian acceptance at an early age. He united with Mt. Calvary No 2 M.B. Church and remained a faithful member there until his passing. He faithfully served as a deacon until God called him home. Six brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.

He united in holy matrimony to Fannie Mae Nelson on March 22, 1946 and to this union 13 children were born. Their reunion existed until her death May 30, 2007. Four of their children preceded her in death.

J.C. Nelson's passion was farming and telling his grandchildren and great-grand children about the life of being a farmer. He also enjoyed driving a school bus. His wish was to have all his boys take up farming, but only a few of them took it up as a career. Even so, as a farmer, Mr. Nelson was well known throughout the farming community from counties all around. After he retired from farming, his passion became traveling to visit his children, family and friends. His biggest dreams was fulfilled in 2013 when he was on "The Price is Right." Left to cherish his memories are 9 siblings: Shirley (Willie) of Dermott; Cecil (and special friend Hazel) of Dermott; Lois Nelson of North Chicago, IL; Henry (Coleen) of Kansas City, Kansas; Bobby Dock (Annette) and John (Earnestine) of Dermott; Pearl (Ervin) of Lawton, OK; Timothy (Marcia) of St. Mary, GA. Mr. Nelson was also survived by his daughter-in-law Rena Nelson (late R.J.) of Columbus, OH. He is survived by a brother, Sylvis (Jessica); (3) sisters Thelma (John) Taylor; Fannie (Fred) Hanes of Dermott; and Effie Hathway of Rock Island, IL. J.C. Nelson enjoyed four generations of children, grandchildren, great-grand children and great-great grand children, and a host of nieces and nephews. He acquired four God-children: Tonya Hawkins of Texas, Jeffery Coleman of Atlanta, Rufus Bernard Phillip of Park City, IL and James Morris of Little Rock. Truly he had a special love for his friends and family, and he was generous and kind to all. Mr. Nelson was buried in Davis Cemetery, Dermott, AR. Services were entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home and Staff - Dermott location - 210 N. Trotter Street. .
