Funeral Services for Jervis Rena Akins, 56, of Milwaukee, WI, formerly of Red Leaf/Lake Village, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023. Service will be held at Central Community Baptist Church, 423 Annex Street, Lake Village, AR; Rev. Arthur Haney, Pastor, Gwendolyn Akins Smith, M.C.

Jervis was born on July 7, 1967 to J. W. and Rosie L. Akins in Red Leaf, Arkansas. He attended schools in the Eudora and Lake Village School Districts; graduating high school in 1985. In 1991, he met and married Gwendolyn Armour. During their 19 years of marriage, one child was born: a son, Jarris. After the declining of their marriage, Jervis moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he met Jessica Eckridge and to this union one child was born, a daughter, Jada Akins.

Jervis passed Saturday, July 29, 2023, at his home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Remaining too continue his legacy are: His son, Jarris Akins of Dallas, TX; daughter, Jada Akins of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Janae Akins of Lake Village, AR and Cario Hilliard of Cedar Hill, TX; siblings, Velma Brown and Brenda Reed of Lake Village, Linda (Edward) Tolliver of Milwaukee, WI, Carolyn J. Akins of Greenville, MS, Erma L. Akins of Chicago, IL, Clevester Akins of Lakeport, AR, Odell (Velvet) Akins of Lake Village, Earnest Akins of Irving, TX, Morris Akins of Oakland CA, James (Georgia) Akins and Edna Mae Akins of Wilwaukee, WI, Charles Akins of Racine, WI and John Willie Akins of Chicago; extended siblings, Gladys Mack of Clarksdale, MS, Brenda (John) Jones of Pine Bluff, Vivian Kendrix, Janice Minniefield and Elton Thompson, Jr. of Eudora, Larry Thompson of Fargo, ND and Andra Thompson of Eudora; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at Central Community Baptist Church, 423 Annex Street, Lake Village, AR
Burial will take place in Red Leaf Cemetery, Highway 82 East, Lake Village. Service entrusted to Dillard Funeral Home, 111 North Freeman Street, Dermott.
